Asking the about the top speed of a Hurricane is like asking about the top speed of a car. The '71's were much different than the '75's, and then you needed to consider the different variants of the Mark II's. The 73 MarkII was the fastest Hurricane. In 74 the Hurricane was detuned (although still r...

You need a special puller that is attached to the threaded holes - not the studs.

Not sure about the height and width but the Merc 2 litre V6 outboards to '95 had the same bore - 3.125. If it works let me know!

I dont think a vibration damper puller will work - the Merc flywheel was designed for a different type of puller. I have a custom made puller that bolts to all four holes.

Hi Frank, Either the clutch is stuck or you're using too fat a belt. The correct belt should be a Dayco Max 1093. If the clutch is stuck you can free it in a vise by removing the face - but look out! Do not remove the center bolt completely or that clutch will be in your face. If it sticks once, it ...

These are still available from any Mercury Marine store - but they're expensive. You can also get a rebuilt unit at mercurysnowmobiles.com. It's the same cdi as an early 70's 40hp outboard. <blockquote id="quote"><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id="...

Does anyone have any information or maybe a picture of a 1975 Hurricane? I am well familiar with the earlier models of Hurricane but I'd like to know if the color scheme was still the same or if it was a blue/black color scheme. I'd also like to know if there were any other cosmetic or mechanical di...

Has anyone tried to swap the Tillotson carb(s) on a Mark 1 or Mark II for Mikuni's - if so can you share your experience? I was considering swapping the twin tillotson HD's on my Mark II and the Tillotson OM on the Mark 1 for proper mikuni's.

'73 Mark 1 Hurricane (single carb with CDI ignition). In very good shape, a little surface rust on tunnel only - nothing heavy and no holes. Ugraded with NOS tach. Runs excellent, pumped the primer a few times and started on first pull after sitting in indoor storage since last March. Everything wor...
