Re: twister tach

Also, good luck finding one that works. Not sure what it is but I haven't found a Sno-Twister tach that works.

Re: 1976 sno twister track

I have heard of converting to a Yamaha ET250/300 or Inviter track as they are 102" with the same 3.29" pitch as the Merc.

If you go to this website they have all the Merc wiring diagrams and other Merc info plus many other brands. Click on Merc, then wiring diagrams.

Re: 76 250 crank

I have not had my motors apart to compare them but they are different part numbers for the 250 as opposed to the 340/440 cranks.

Re: Twister Years

Both serial numbers are for 1975 340 S/T models. 1975 sleds would have build-dates of 1974.

Re: trade my john deere liquifire for a sno twister

Due to the fact that the 1974 Kohler 400 was prone to grenading, Mercury had an exchange program for 1975 where you could trade your 74 400 motor for a 75 340 motor. You used the 400 carbs and pipes and away you went.

Re: 76 sno-twister

They run 36-41 carbs with a 340 main and a 35 pilot but I would have to take one apart to get needle and needle-jet numbers. The parts book only gives part-numbers, not sizes.

Re: 76 snotwister

The M340RLC is the correct motor for the Merc. The M designates that it was built and ported to Merc specs.

I'm sure this question has been asked before but I don't recall seeing a definite number. How many 1976 Sno-Twisters where built? I recall someone posting that 500 of each size was built but I think there must have been more than that when you consider how many must have gotten wrecked and how many ...
