Motor Identification

Postby peto164 » Mon Apr 12, 2010 10:11 am

Hello All,
I have a Mercury motor that I can not find the year and model of snowmobile that it was used in. I was hoping that someone would be able to help me out or point me in the right direction. Here are the Numbers,
Kohler Model # K4002AS
Serial # 501976
Spec. # 422111
CC 436
I could not find the serial number on this web site.
Thanks.

Recheck the tag. A 436cc motor should be a K4402AS not a K4002AS.

Your correct, I miss typed, it is a 440, Model # K4402AS, I was just curious as to what sled this was used in. This motor came in a 73 Arctic Cat El Tigre that I bought for some parts. The motor seems to be in good condition.

Motor was used in the 75-76 Trail-Twister and some mid 70s Rupps and Skiroules, as well as a number of other makes. Rupp motors had their own tag which had Rupp on them but I think they are the only company that did that.

Thanks for the information. This was definetly a Merc motor because the recoil cover has a Merc sticker on it.
