hey all
i'm looking into an old merc sled for a friend of mine, it was identified as a 1976 sno twister 440, but its a free air, it has the exposed cylinder heads, and the offset headlight, from what i've read that would mean it is a 1975??, i don't have the s# available at the moment.
also what are the basic specs for the machine, ie oil ratio, idle mix settings, track tension, correct sparkplugs, ect.
thank alot for the help
its much appreciated
steve
btw, feel free to email me
1975 sno twister / 1976 sno twister ????

The original specs for oil were as follows for the Twister models (other Merc models may vary.....
16:1 Liquid cooled sleds
25:1 Free Air Sleds
40:1 Fan Cooled Sleds
This was with 1975-76 oil blends. Things have changed alot since then and I read somewhere where they felt that with the newer blends a 40:1 mix was satisfactory.
The decision was yours but I still go by the original recommendations.
