This sled was found in a barn in 2003, still in its original crate. It has been ridden the last four winters and has used 4 tanks of gas. The probem is that the guy stripped the heads on many of the fasteners, as being wrapped in plastic for 30+ years leads to condensation and corrosion. I'd like to know what type of screws held the light-covers on? He replaced them with a machine-screw and a nut but in some spots there is no room for the nut. Should they be pan-head self-tapping screws? Was there an inner ring that had threaded inserts for machine-screws? The maintenance manual shows how to remove the headlights, but the picture doesn't really show the fasteners.

Are they a plastic snap or metal? Any chance someone could send me a pic of one. Thanks for the info.
