Crank seals

Post by DaveyBoy »

Has anyone ever had a crank seal go bad on there scoot? Does amyone know what the compression should be for a good running scoot? Have a friends scoot that will idle allday but when warm it dies and wont go unless you choke and get going them will stay going wide open. The carb is new and clean all gas and tank etc have been gone through any ideas before i tear this engine down thanks

I pulled the motor apart it had 80 psi comp cold 60 hot not a good sign The piston was perfect the bore was within a tenth rings might have been worn a bit cylnder looked washed out but couldnt find anything wrong there. So i am going to pull the crank seals out and see if i find a bad 1. 1 looks good and feels good behind the clutch cant see the other.I hope this isnt a bad carb from factory as this carb was new.Just a update for u scoot gurus.Wish i ahd a known good carb to try too
