Kick Start Fix

Post by WaGone »

My Snosports kick start assembly broke at the bolt groove. The part is obsolete. A SnoScoot part tooth pattern doesn't match with the part images I saw.

Did some digging around and bought a kick start assembly from a Razz scooter, pn 1YU-15601-00. The part drops right in as it has the same 15 mm shaft, and 60 mm radius and 24 teeth. The retaining ring groove is too far inboard, so I am going to cut a new one. The shaft might be case hardend. Anyone try this before?

The part was $30 on ebay.

Cut a groove in. Assembled and put c ring on. Went together nice.

If unable to cut groove, you may be able to use the kick start lever as the retainer, and use a stack of washers to take up the slack. It would be sort of a hack, but ought to work. Maybe if one of them was a wave washer, it would help with the feel. Would need to keep it clean as junk could jam this. Perhaps a small diameter bushing would work better.
