B6HS plug in snoscoot?

Post by srxrob »

Hi
Just got a new to me scoot and checked the plug. It's a B6HS ? Aren't these machines supposed to be br8hs? Why a hooter plug? Also really idles high when I take the choke off. Haven't cleaned the carb yet because it runs fine with the choke on.
Should I go back to the stock plug?

Thanks

Yes, I would put correct BR8HS plug in it. If it does run lean with a hotter plug, good chance is you will melt or burn hole in piston. Running fine with the choke on? Something is wrong, more than likely dirt in carb. It is obvious that it is running too lean. Clean the carb.

That's what I was thinking as well. I will clean the carb. As far as the plug goes the last guy who repaired it wrote 93 octane only on the fuel cap. I assume to keep from possible detonation with the hotter plug. Why would you put a hooter plug in to begin with ? Does it make it easier to start?
