75 Sno-Twister 440 cc gearing

Post by snowman65 »

I have a 75 Sno-Twister with the Kohler 440 free air in it of coarse but I was wondering why my engine states it is 429.4 cc instead of 439 cc.It is a K440-2RC engine.I have had this sled for about 15 years now and was always curios about this. Also I used to grass drag this and I installed the gears from a 76 Trail-Twister thinking I could get faster times in 500 ft.I can not remember if I changed the driven unit when I swapped gears so if someone could tell me the diameter of the original 75 Sno-Twister driven unit I would appreciate it.I am putting the sled back to recreational use.
Thanks

My manual lists the motor at 429.4cc, but the plate on my motor has been worn by the airbox so I can't read it. I have another bell-housing and the plate reads 429.4cc. I have seen reference to shallow-base cylinders and deep-base cylinders, possibly a later run of motors had more displacement?? The secondary on my 75 is about 9 7/8" across, roughly 1" smaller than the T/T secondary.
