This may be a dumb question but here goes. On a Walbro carb, is it necessary to use new gaskets each time carb is cleaned and are they available. I am dealing with 2 sleds. A 73 SR and a MAX, both 73. I am going to disassemble and clean them. They have sat for a few years now. Also, I have heard that to prevent a carb for varnishing up, you can drain tank and run engine till carb is empty. Is that the best way to prepare a sled for sitting indefinatly.

Currently Walbro Carb gasket sets and rebuild kits are not available from any wholesale suppliers. What is in dealer hands is it. I do not know what the future of this situation is.

The best thing to keep the carb clean is treat the fuel with a gas stabilizer and run the engine for about 10 minutes so that the stabilized fuel gets in and through the carb. The shut off flow to the carb and let the carb be sucked dry.

This should prevent "varnishing" in the carb.
