I've heard of people cutting off the end of the pipe and taking that coiled baffle out. What do you guys think? I would think it would lose some backpressure

No back pressure on a 2 stroke. Anything outside the stinger cone is for sound supression. I have some Yamaha GPX pipes with the outer cylinders cut off the ends. It is pretty much a modification done for weight saving and does make the sound go up quite a bit.

I've run both ways & know of dyno testing that showed the stock pipe (with the baffles) had more HP. But if it's blocking the path, then no choice...it does sound different w/o the baffle although not too loud.

Show me a 2 stroke that does not have any back pressure and I will show you a 2 stroke that is not running !!
