C&A ski mounts

Post by macpat »

Would like to know if there is anyone that has installed c&a skis and would be willing to show me pictures of how they are mounted. I know there are kits on eBay but they involve cutting one side of the ski which I don't really want to do. I would like to see some other options. Thanks.

I have not done this yet, however, I plan to use the PowerMadd mini skis. You can get a set for around $100. You would need to fab up a saddle to make them fit. I still need to confirm the dimensions.
I'm sure the C&A skis with the Scoot kit work well, however, they are WAY to expensive ($400) to put on a Scoot. The main goal is better flotation and less resistance - any plastic ski should perform just fine. I have seen plenty of Scoots with full size skis on them, they look a little funny but, but work well and you can find a pair of old ones cheap on Ebay.
I agree with you, the C&A conversion kit for the Scoot is pretty crude. I can't image spending all that money on the skis and them hacking them up to fit the brackets.
If the PowerMadd Skis are too narrow to mount the Scoot Spindles without hacking up the ski, then something like the Arctic Cat molded plastic skis may work well also. They have a removable saddle that could be modified. As long as the saddle mounting area is wider than the Scoot spindle, then a saddle should be easy to make.
I have attached some photos of what I'm talking about.

I am hoping to work out something like the arctic cat saddle, the bottom picture from snoscoot.com is an option I just dont really want to cut into the new C&A skis if I don't have too. Bullheadmoto had something but I am not sure you can buy them anymore, I would be interested in seeing how he was able to mount the skis.

FYI I just purchase C&A mini skis off ebay for $125 bucks, the guy I bought them from has 3 more pairs available.

That's a good deal.
The reason why the C&A skis need to be cut, is due to how high the plastic sits above the mount hole. This area will hit the ski bump stops when the ski pivots up and down going over uneven terrain. I am going to try to make my saddles higher so the spindle mounting hole is above the ski, so I don't have to hack my new skis up to make them fit.

BTW, Bullhead Moto left a lot of people very upset. He collected money for parts and pre-orders and than stopped responding. My buddy was one of those guys that got screwed.
His ski mounts were pretty sweet - Machined from billet aluminum.

The C&A skis work great. This is how mine turned out.
I had the mounts machined by a guy in Wisconsin.

BB500,
Do you have a CAD drawing or sketch of the mounts?
Can you please provide a close up photo? It would save us redesigning the wheel.
Thanks,
Phil

I have added some better pictures. PM me and i will get you the information. These mounts are like the ones BHM was selling.
I had four sets made and the guy told me he would do it cheaper if i order 25 sets.

I would be interested in a set of mounts.

Nice fairing around the light. What is that off of.

The fairing is from a 1990 Yamaha Phazer with a short windshield. I had it custom painted to match the blue shroud. It will mount directly to the Sno Scoot steering post. This is a very easy mod.
I also added heated grips and a display gauge that shows RPM, cylinder temp, Batt.voltage and clock.

BB500, do you think the guy who machined your mounts would do some more? I really would like a set, and I would be willing to pay even if it costs more to make a few. Let me know, Thanks!

Hey BB500, sorry I didn't post this sooner. Got a little side tracked with our new baby.
