Thank You very much! -DaveDrivebelt wrote:My 76 T/T came with a Dayco 1078 belt and it seems to work fine. The 1078 is 1 1/4" x 46 11/16" and the 1080 is 1 1/4" x 46 3/16". I know that you sometimes have to shim the motor-plate mounts to get correct deflection. The original Dayco 2000 was listed as 46 5/8" so it is very close to the 1078.

I met a guy on the weekend with a nicely restored 76 S/T 440 but he said he couldn't find a belt for it because they didn't make the 2000 any more.SnoTwister340 wrote:I run a 1078 on my 340 sno twister liquid and it runs fine.
He said a 1078 wouldn't work, so that got me wondering, as they should run the same belt as the T/T. I didn't see under the hood but he said it was all stock. I have had different tell me they can't find belts to fit their Mercs.

I have a hex clutch and stock secondary. If you go to MFG supply they say that a Dayco HP3039 is the new belt which replaces a Dayco Max 2000 and should fit a 76 s/t, but that I wrong, as I bought the belt and it fit but was way to tight. I then looked up the length of the hp3039 and got the next bigger belt which I could find which was a 1078 and it works great for that sled.
